Manchester United have given up on the signing of Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic, according to reports from Italy.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio writes that ‘after complaints from fans’, the Old Trafford side chose to end their pursuit for the 33-year-old.
It’s said Manchester United ‘found themselves in the crossfire between the no of Bologna and accusations from the supporters’.
Di Marzio then insists that Arnautovic ‘will not play in the Premier League’, where he previously featured for Stoke City and West Ham United, and is set to remain in the Serie A for the next season.
Following Manchester United’s defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in the opening fixture of the season, the Red Devils seemed to go for some panic shopping by quickly being linked to the arrivals of Arnautovic and also Adrien Rabiot from Juventus.
Even though the chase for the midfielder seems to be still on, the reaction from fans and media wasn’t great either, with Italian journalists claiming Erik ten Hag’s side ‘don’t know what they’re doing’ in case they confirm the arrival of the Frenchman.
