Manchester United are providing ‘stiff competition’ to Lazio for the signing of AZ Alkmaar forward Jesper Karlsson this summer.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say Manchester United are still in the mix for a player they’ve been watching since 2016.

The newspaper explains that Karlsson is on Lazio’s list of potential targets this summer as they look to add a winger to Maurizio Sarri’s squad.

They’re putting him ahead of other options at this moment in time as he’s currently valued at around €20m, a good figure for a player who scored 13 goals and registered eight assists in all competitions last season.

Getting him won’t be an easy process, though, as there is ‘stiff competition’ from the Premier League, where Manchester United are one of four sides interested in his signature.

They’ve been tracking Karlsson for the best part of seven years, with the player even explaining all the way back in 2016, before his move to the Netherlands, that he found reported interest from United ‘fun’.

They’re still in the mix for him according to Corriere dello Sport, who believe Lazio will have to beat Manchester United to the signing if they want the player this summer.
