Manchester United are in the race for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, according to claims today.
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri writes that the Red Devils are one of those who are ‘most pressing’ for his transfer.
But to land Lavia from Southampton, Manchester United would need to beat some competition from the Premier League, as the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City are said to be interested in him as well.
The Red Devils must be aware that their city rivals have a buyback clause included in his contract from when he moved to the Saints last summer.
Southampton spent €12.3m to sign the youngster at the start of the season, and following these months at the club, he’s already valued by Trasnfermarkt at €25m. Now with big Premier League clubs interested in his signing, it’d be no surprise to see him moving for much more.
Manchester United may be doing just fine with Casemiro bossing the midfield this season, but considering that most of their players for that position are over 30-years-old, it would make sense for the Red Devils to go after a 19-year-old who’s already well adapted to the Premier League.
