Starting in January thanks to Newcastle United reportedly coming forward with a big offer, the idea that Victor Osimhen could end up in the Premier League next season has completely taken off.
Other clubs, such as Manchester United, are also said to be in the race, with the Red Devils now believed to be the favourites to sign the Nigeria international, even without having Champions League football to offer him.
Perhaps Erik ten Hag has something to do with that, although we’ll have to see about that, but what appears certain is that Napoli will cash in this summer and someone in the Premier League will welcome the former Lille star.
Whether that’s Newcastle or Manchester United isn’t clear yet, with the likes of Arsenal also thrown into the mix from time to time, but La Repubblica seem to believe the Old Trafford side have an advantage.
Looking at the movements that could take place in Naples in the coming months, they explain the Serie A side are ‘grappling with Osimhen’s future’.
That’s because ‘the Nigerian is very popular in the Premier League’, where Manchester United are ‘on pole’ although Newcastle are ‘ready to go crazy’ for him too.
The price mentioned here is that of ‘around €90m’, but it would be surprising to not see that creep over the €100m mark, as it’s a figure Aurelio De Laurentiis would love to be able to boast about going forward.
Either way, Manchester United and Newcastle appear to be in the mix, and may the biggest wallet win.
