Manchester United’s Victor Lindelöf has had a problematic past couple of seasons at Old Trafford.
He returned from injury in October and played seven times in all competitions, stepping on the pitch for 293 minutes.
Lindelöf has now unfortunately picked up another injury that will keep him out of action for an uncertain amount of time.
This happened during the international break and Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson spoke to the player before he went back to Manchester.
He told Bohuslaningen: “I met him before he left the hotel. He was very disappointed. Now it’s about him getting healthy.”
The report also mentions that Tomasson praised the defender for how Lindelöf sacrificed himself for the Swedish team, ultimately leading to the injury.
Tomasson’s comments suggest that Lindelöf’a injury perhaps came as a result of him being overplayed despite the fact that he’s just returned from a previous fitness problem.
All of this points towards the Swede having to be eased into action very slowly by Manchester United or they could risk more issues.
His absence could leave Manchester United thin at the back, with Harry Maguire not fully fit and Lisandro Martinez also injured.
Lindelöf’s current deal at Old Trafford runs out in the summer of 2025 and it’s currently looking unlikely he’ll get a renewal.
