A couple of reports from South America now claim that Edinson Cavani will be leaving Manchester United at the end of the season.

Despite the striker’s great form with the club, with three goals in his past three games, the 33-year-old has reportedly decided to walk away from Old Trafford once his contract expires.

It was first the Uruguayan media who claimed it. Live on Punto Penal, journalist Martin Charquero claimed that Cavani will no longer be playing for the Red Devils after this season.

The pundit didn’t have any information on what the player’s new destination would be, as the decision is purely based on leaving European football.

Then it was time for Argentine outlet Doble Amarilla to report it. They say Cavani told Manchester United’s board that he’s returning to South America at the end of the season.

It’s said the player understands the efforts made by the Red Devils to keep him, but he wants to be closer to his relatives, and that means moving to somewhere near Uruguay.

Even though they also have no information on which club is Cavani joining, the rumours about Boca Juniors continue. TyC Sports features a story explaining the Buenos Aires side are keeping shirts 7 and 9 both free for the Copa Libertadores, and that’s a sign they’re waiting for him.
