In the past week, reports in the Italian media have been talking about AS Roma interest in Manchester United defender Eric Bailly, with José Mourinho looking to work with the Ivorian player once again.
It turns out that when speaking to the Red Devils about the potential signing, the Giallorossi ended up discussing another player, according to Forza Roma.
The website writes that Roma and Manchester United also talked about the transfer of Victor Lindelof. It’s pointed out that with the arrival of Lisandro Martinez, the Swedish defender is likely to lose space in the squad, and a departure becomes possible.
The report claims Lindelof is currently worth €20m, and the player has ‘little chance’ of renewing his contract with the Red Devils, which expires in 2024.
That’s why Roma ‘could think of a loan operation with the right of redemption’. The outlet, however, claims this is ‘just an idea’ for now, with the Gialorossi still to engage in serious talks for the signing.
With Manchester United likely to have too many defenders in the squad for this season, it’s probably a good thing that the Serie A side are interested in two of them.
