Manchester United player has rejected transfer to Lyon – Entourage were contacted over move

Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Manchester United encouraged Daniel James’ exit to Leeds United on deadline day, and also resulted in rumours regarding other attackers.

There were claims of Edinson Cavani being offered to Barcelona in a last minute deal, and Anthony Martial has also found himself the subject of a few rumours, although the latter have mainly been on social media.

L’Equipe report on Tuesday evening that Lyon have made an attempt to sign the Manchester United forward. The Ligue 1 side were looking for a loan move late in the market and contacted the France international’s entourage.

However, they were met with refusal, with Martial deciding he didn’t want to leave Old Trafford and return to the club when he came through the ranks. The 25-year-old left Lyon in 2013, to join Monaco’s B side. He progressed to the first team and quickly earned himself a big move to Manchester United.

Martial has a contract with the Red Devils which runs until 2024, with the option to further extend it by a year.
