Anthony Martial’s seasons is likely over, report Marca, with the Manchester United player having picked up another injury.
The Frenchman moved to Sevilla on loan in the January transfer window, and was welcomed with huge fanfare by the Spanish club. Marca explain the welcome was so big, and the expectations so high, that Martial was almost seen as a ‘new idol’ arriving by the Sevilla faithful.
Things haven’t gone according to plan, and Martial has only found the back of the net once, in the Europa League against Dinamo Zagreb.
He’s only played 495 minutes in La Liga, and during that time has managed a single assist.
Martial returned from injury to appear in Sevilla’s match against Mallorca last week, and was quickly unavailable again. Given the Spanish club have just one match more this season, against Athletic Club Bilbao next Sunday, it’s not thought the Manchester United player will appear again, and there’s no clarity around his latest injury situation.
For Sevilla it’s been an expensive loan which hasn’t worked out, and the Premier League club will be welcoming a player back whose value has dropped after the unimpressive loan period.
