Joel Pereira seems pretty proud of having made his professional debut for Manchester United after spending so many years at the club.

The player spent the first half of the season at Portuguese side Belenenses, and his good performances in his home country convinced José Mourinho to call him back.

Pereira joined Manchester United’s squad as the third goalkeeper, since the club decided to loan Sam Johnstone out to Aston Villa until the end of the season.

Having arrived in Manchester on the fifth of January, Pereira had his first chance on Sunday as United played Wigan Athletic in the fourth-round of the FA Cup.

Although goalkeeper Sergio Romero started the game, José Mourinho gave Pereira his debut by replacing the Argentine international after 80 minutes.

“It was sensational to make my debut at home with a great victory. I’m very happy to be able to play this first game at the Old Trafford Stadium. I would like to thank manager Mourinho for the opportunity and it was fantastic to play with that atmosphere”, said Pereira via his press office.

“I have also spoke to my family and they are all happy and proud. I worked hard to get here and thank everyone for their support.”
