With Casemiro coming in, there were always going to be exits, and Eric Bailly’s at Manchester United was always on the cards.
The centre-back was reportedly a target for numerous clubs around Europe, with Marseille in Ligue 1 being one of the ones pushing the most.
Manchester United were initially reluctant to let him leave on loan, but subsequent reports suggested they then opened up to the idea.
Well, that’s worked in Marseille’s favour, with La Provence now claiming the Ivory Coast defender is ‘very close’ to the Ligue 1 side.
It’s recalled that an agreement had ‘already been reached’ with Manchester United towards the end of last week, and all that was left was to ‘find common ground’ with the player’s agents.
That’s now ‘nearly done’, with talks ‘advancing well this afternoon between Pablo Longoria and the advisors of Eric Bailly’.
In fact, the deal has ‘great chances of being completed quickly’, with the player potentially arriving in the south of France as early as tomorrow.
Regarding the details of the deal, ‘it should be a loan with an obligatory option to buy based on conditions (number of games played and qualification for the Champions League) valued between €6-7m’.
