Manchester United star Antony has been accused of ‘domestic violence, threat and bodily injury’, according to reports from Brazil.
Globo Esporte today reveals that Gabriela Cavallin, who had a relationship with the player, filed a police report in São Paulo on Monday.
She claims that on May 20th, she was assaulted by the Manchester United player. At that time, Antony was in England, and Globo say it’s not clear where that alleged assault took place.
ESPN clarify the situation a bit, explaining this report from Cavallin was for multiple incidents over a period of time, and that the May 20th incident was the Manchester United threatening her on a phone call after she had returned to Brazil.
Brazilians can be subject to Brazilian law, even if an alleged crime happened outside the country.
The report includes ‘photos of abrasions and threatening messages’ from Antony, and according to her, there had been previous aggressions from the 23-year-old.
Cavallin is now asking the Brazilian authorities ‘an urgent protective measure’ while evidence is gathered.
According to Globo Esporte, she and Antony had a relationship last year. They point out that in June 2022, she revealed on social media she’s suffered a miscarriage after the couple had been expecting their first child.
Antony’s private life has been big news in Brazil’s gossip pages in the past year, as he had been married shortly before this relationship with Cavallin was revealed. In an interview with ESPN Brasil in April, he seemed quite nervous when speaking of personal issues.
Globo Esporte says the player and his staff chose not to comment on the news. It’s unclear whether Manchester United will do the same.
