With Italian giants AC Milan said to be engaged in a big chase for a centre-back, newspaper Tuttosport today features an update on the names on the table.

It’s said that despite the many names who’ve been linked to the Rossoneri in the past weeks, there are only two being seriously considered now. Those are Manchester United’s Eric Bailly and Paris Saint Germain’s Abdou Diallo.

Regarding the Red Devils’ player, it’s claimed that the Old Trafford side have been open to letting him go on loan ‘for days’.

So the chance of signing Bailly is now said to be a matter of Milan needing to ‘sink the blow and close’ the operation.

Tuttosport doesn’t make it clear if Milan’s deal with Manchester United would include any kind of optional or obligatory buying clause.

Either way, the transfers of both Bailly or Diallo would need to wait until the end of the Africa Cup of Nations, so it makes sense that things are not developing as quickly as Milan’s urge for a new defender seems to require.

The player has only made seven appearances for Manchester United this season, and has a contract running until 2024.
