Manchester United scouts may have a regular presence in some championships, but they are often doing an interesting job in some particular games as well.
As reported by Tutto Mercato Web, Red Devils emissaries have now watched the U18 game between Italy and Germany this weekend.
The website doesn’t seem to know if the officials were there to watch any special players, but they were left particularly impressed with two starlets: Davide Merola and Marco Carnesecchi.
Merola is a 17-year-old striker from Inter Milan. Still playing for the club’s youth teams, he has two goals in four appearances this season, and is already protected by a contract running until 2020.
Carnesecchi, who’s also 17, is playing the same youth division as Merola, but with more regularity. The goalkeeper has eight appearances this season, with seven goals conceded and three clean sheets so far.
Manchester United have scouts all around the world, and being impressed with a youngster doesn’t mean they will go for him.
But there’s some information to be keeping an eye on from now on, because as both have been shining for the national team at this age, it won’t take long until they start playing some first level football.
