Manchester United were one of several sides to have a scout at Benfica’s clash with Pacos Ferreira on Friday night.

That’s according to A Bola, who say Manchester United, Dortmund, Sevilla and Atalanta, as well as several other sides, all have scouts in the stands to watch the game.

The newspaper makes no mention of who United were there to watch, although Sevilla’s remit was reportedly Haris Seferovic.

Whoever they were there to watch, they were given a treat as Benfica ran out 4-1 winners in a last-minute victory over Pacos, who had led through Nuno Santos in the 52nd minute.

Goals from Alex Grimaldo, Seferovic, Rafa Soares and then Everton Soares all came in the last 15 minutes of the game, with Grimaldo only equalising in the 78th minute of the game.

Seferovic was undoubtedly the star of the show, ending the game with a goal and an assist, although it’s extremely unlikely Manchester United were there to watch him.

Fellow forward, Darwin Núñez was also in good form in the game, while Julian Weigl also earned positive reviews for his performance in the middle of the park.

He’s certainly a signing that would make sense for Manchester United, given their struggles in the middle of the park this season and desperate need for a defensive midfielder of his ilk.

The German has been quietly impressing since arriving at Benfica, and this was another fine display that is sure not to have gone unnoticed.
