Manchester United had an official at this week’s match between Dijon and PSG, report Mercato365.
They weren’t there just to annoy the Paris club, so logic would say there’s a target at either PSG or Dijon, with the former very much the likelier.
Arsenal were also there, and much of the French website’s article is about the London club’s interest in Christopher Nkunku, the versatile midfielder the Gunners tried to sign in January.
It’s pointed out that Nkunku is one of the PSG players who ‘could pack his bags’ at the end of the season. L’Equipe recently reported that Champions League defeat to Manchester United has hit PSG’s finances and made summer sales all the more necessary.
Along with Nkunku, it’s thought Layvin Kurzawa and Thomas Meunier are also available.
Kurzawa, a 26 year old left-back, has a contract until 2020 and could be a reasonable target to battle with Luke Shaw. He was linked with Manchester United this week, although the claims didn’t seem especially strong.
Meunier is a 27 year old right back, also with a contract lasting until June 2020. Depending on how the Premier League club see Ashley Young’s situation next season, and what happens with Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian, the Belgian would be a good option to compete with Diogo Dalot at right back.
In 2017, the PSG player made no secret of his desire to play in English football and his support of the Old Trafford club: “I’ve always said that one day, I would like to play in the Premier League. I’m very happy in Paris and if I finish my career there, it won’t be a disappointment, far from it. But, if one day, I had to leave Paris, why not?
“On the other side of the Channel, there are the stadiums, the fans, and I’ve never hidden that I’m a big fan of Manchester United, which remains, in my eyes, the real reference in the world of football.”
Of course, the United official could have been watching Kylian Mbappe and Marco Verratti instead, but they just don’t seem so likely to move this summer.
