On February 8th it was reported in Spain that Manchester United have offered €10m a year, after tax, to try and convince Ronald Araujo to dump Barcelona and move to Old Trafford as a free agent.
The Premier League club were said to be serious in their pursuit, and were advancing their efforts for the young defender.
February 15th saw claims that Manchester United had put a very strong offer on the table for the Uruguay international, and were presenting themselves as an option for a future destination.
And on March 3rd, the interest from Ralf Rangnick’s side was again reported in the media closest to Barcelona.
Mundo Deportivo now suggest that confidence over a renewal has hit something of a bump at the Camp Nou. Araujo’s camp still don’t think they’re being offered enough, and in response to Barcelona’s pleas of relative poverty, they’ve pointed out the club are ready to pay incoming free transfers much more than they’re offering their own player.
That’s seen things shake, and a move to England given a bigger chance. Mundo say that Araujo has been improving his level of English in recent weeks, and has even put plans to buy a house on hold, both of which are seen as clues he’s considering a move away.
And that would be good news for Manchester United interest.
