That’s it. Manchester United and Benfica have finally found an agreement for the transfer of Victor Lindelof. At least according to Record today.
The outlet reckons José Mourinho’s side now only needs to reach a deal with the player, so he can finally complete the move to Old Trafford.
Manchester United will be reportedly paying €35m for the signing, with other €5m to be added in performance bonuses. That’s far less than Lindelof’s release clause, which has gone up to €60m after his new contract was signed in January.
It’s claimed Benfica will now be making a new ‘bridge’ regarding transfer, since none of their players was sold to Manchester United before. Record mentions the case of Nico Gaitán, who was wanted by Sir Alex Ferguson, but the interest never turned into something concrete.
That even Record mention the never ending saga of Nico Gaitán perhaps suggests they feel this one is different.
O Jogo, who on Wednesday night said Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira was flying to England, now confirms that the official was agreeing the transfer last night. However, they claim the price could reach up to €50m.
Even A Bola, who hasn’t been saying much about the case, confirms Vieira has been in Manchester before going to Cardiff to watch the Champions League final. They also say a deal is close to being done, confirming the €35m price.
