Italian outlet Calcio Mercato has a story on Alessio Romagnolli, who’s been doing pretty well at AC Milan lately.
The website takes quotes from manager Gennaro Gattuso saying the defender ‘doesn’t have a price’, as the Rossoneri will do what is needed to keep the captain in the squad for much longer.
The reason why this protection is being mentioned is because there are many big clubs following Romagnoli, including Premier League sides.
Calcio Mercato says Chelsea have already tried to sign the defender in the past, and although their attempt was blocked by Milan, they keep following the player. Manchester United and Juventus are the other clubs who are keen on getting the 24-year-old.
Manchester United are said to be ‘observing’ the player.
With Gattuso saying he’s not for sale, Calcio Mercato doesn’t dare put a price tag on Romagnoli. He’s considered to be the ‘symbol’ of this Milan, committing himself with a long contract at a time when the team was still being built. Now as he’s praised even by Paolo Maldini for being such a young captain, the club really believe he should be kept for a long time.
