Marseille, recently changing director of football and appointing former Manchester United scout David Friio as their technical director, are in the midst of a revamp.
The French club, now overseen by Pablo Longoria, appointed Jorge Sampaoli to replace André Villas-Boas as manager a few weeks ago, and are now working on their scouting department.
It was announced back in February that Manchester United scout Mathieu Seckinger was already being looked at – a move that has since taken place – and we now have another member of the Red Devils backroom staff who has made the switch from the north of England to the south of France.
According to L’Equipe, Mathieu Louis-Jean, who was a ‘senior scout’ with the Premier League side, has been appointed as the man in charge of the recruitment area at the club.
Seen by Longoria as ‘one of the best French scouts’, he’s now been handed a lot of extra responsibility at a club where expectations are high and transfer flops aren’t exactly welcome.
He will be joining and supervising the aforementioned Seckinger, who was the man who recommended Hannibal Mejbri, as well as working alongside Friio once again, having done so in the past at Manchester United.
