Manchester United ‘should not be overlooked’ as an option for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic Savic this summer as they hunt a replacement for Paul Pogba.
That’s according to journalist Nicolo Ceccarini, who says the Serbian midfielder ‘has a big market’ in front of him.
He explains that Milinkovic-Savic’s contract expires in 2024, and while that does not mean Lazio will need to sell this summer, this could be the final opportunity to get a big price for him.
If the club were to receive ‘a big offer’ for their star man, then they could ‘open to a sale’, and there are clubs willing to pay.
They can offer a ‘decidedly high salary’ and Champions League football, both of which could prove very tempting for the midfielder.
Manchester United are also a potential ‘hypothesis’ that should not be ‘overlooked’, bearing in mind that Pogba is looking likely to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer.
They are long-term suitors for the Serbian star, having been linked with a move for him for the last few years without taking that final step.
Those reports have re-emerged in the last few months, particularly with it suggested that Lazio will reduce their asking price from the previous €100m they were demanding.
The truth is Manchester United will have to spend a big sum to beat PSG if they are keen, but it seems they’re very much in the picture at this point.
