Manchester United are ‘seriously considering’ a bid for defender David Raum but face competition from Newcastle and West Ham.
That’s according to Sport 1, who say all three Premier League clubs are eyeing up a move for the German.
Raum has been heavily linked with a move away from Hoffenheim this summer after an impressive season in the Bundesliga and a breakthrough on the international stage.
There’s been increasing interest from the Premier League, and Manchester United are believed to be one of the sides thinking about a deal.
Sport 1 say that is the case, but state Newcastle and West Ham are also in the mix, with all three ‘seriously considering a transfer’.
They report that the player is open to an ‘early departure’ from Hoffenheim, and his representatives have been ‘sounding out the market’ and holding talks with potential buyers.
A decision is not expected in the near future, but a departure is now ‘considered likely’.
A move to Manchester United would presumably be the more appealing of the three even after their troubles last season, and they do need a reliable left-back moving forwards.
So do West Ham, who are looking to replace Aaron Cresswell and have been linked to several left-backs around Europe this summer already.
Newcastle don’t need reinforcement in that position as much, particularly after signing Matt Targett on a permanent deal, but perhaps they’d like competition in the position.
Either way, it seems Raum could have an offer from one of the three on the table at some point.
