Manchester United have become the latest Premier League side to be credited with interest in Feyenoord star Santiago Giménez.
For the past few days, reports from Mexico and Europe stated Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United are in the picture for the striker.
W Deportes now claim Manchester United have been closely following the 21-year-old in action for the Eredivisie side.
The Mexico international has 18 goals and four assists to his name from 37 matches in all competitions this season. This seems to have drawn attention from the Red Devils, who are the ‘most interested team’ to secure the player’s services.
Apart from sending their scouts to observe him for several games, Manchester United have also made the ‘first contact’ with Giménez’s environment. This was done to find out the possibility of starting negotiations to sign the frontman in the summer.
W Deportes make it clear this is their own information and also add there’s been no talks between the two clubs. The Mexican is currently valued at €9m and the report adds that Giménez has a ‘clause close to €20m’.
Wout Weghorst’s [on loan from Burnley] struggles and Anthony Martial’s injury concerns could see Erik ten Hag’s side bring in a new striker next season. It remains to be seen if that would be Giménez.
