Towards the end of the 2020/21 season, Manchester United were pushed forward as one of the clubs interested in Nikola Milenković.

The defender didn’t make a move elsewhere last summer and instead, ended up signing a new contract at Fiorentina. His current deal expires in 2023.

Operating in the heart of the defence, the defender made 24 league starts this term and his last appearance came in La Viola’s 1-0 win over Bologna at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday.

Calciomercato.it have a report stating that ‘several Manchester United observers’ were in the attendance to watch the Serbia international and Bologna’s Mattias Svanberg in action over the weekend.

The report further adds these two players are the Red Devils’ ‘market objectives’ for the next window.

Regarding Milenković, it’s said he has been ‘followed for several months now’. The centre-back will have a year left on his contract at the end of the season and the Premier League side ‘continue to evaluate him’.

United scouts also had their eyes on Svanberg as the Swede has been on Ralf Rangnick’s list since his time at RB Leipzig. Like Milenković, the midfielder has a contract expiring in 2023.
