Manchester United are once again mentioned in a story about a Portuguese player today. This time it comes from Italy, where Tuttosport report on the race for the Benfica defender Ruben Dias.

The outlet claims that Juventus are pretty convinced to go after the defender, and could be offering Marko Pjaca as part of the deal.

Tuttosport also takes claims from Spain to say Atletico Madrid and Manchester United are both interested, although their chase has been reported by the Portuguese press as well.

Now there are a couple of strange claims from Tuttosport which are worth pointing out. The first is the amount which Benfica would accept for Dias.

The newspaper says Benfica would ‘accept’ €60m, when they’re actually forced to, since that’s the amount of the player’s release clause. Then they claim that he could cost over €70m, which is impossible, once again because of the release clause.

Then Tuttosport says that Benfica would be interested in taking Pjaca included in the deal. However, the Portuguese press recently claimed that the Eagles only want cash, ruling out the possibility of a swap.

So we’re not sure if Juventus really have the advantage which Tuttosport says they do, even because the newspaper names many other targets the Old Lady has, which would mean their focus isn’t totally on the Portuguese international.
