On Wednesday, Corriere dello Sport reported Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna will hold talks with Manchester United over signing Scott McTominay.
The midfielder’s deal expires in 2025, with an option for another year. The Red Devils have already rejected a loan offer from the Serie A side.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who state Manchester United want €30m for McTominay.
The Naples club are waiting to earn big from Victor Osimhen’s sale. At the same time, Manna has been in London, trying to close deals involving several Premier League sides.
The director has held discussions with Manchester United for the 27-year-old. Both Erik ten Hag’s side and McTominay have shown ‘willingness to start negotiations’.
Gazzetta say Napoli can only afford to pay €30m for him if they were to sell Osimhen.
Gianluca Di Marzio also says Manchester United are demanding €30m for the player. The Italian club could spend this fee after selling the Nigerian striker, unless Antonio Conte considers McTominay is the priority target.
In other words, Napoli could spend €30m on the Scotsman, irrespective of whether or not they sell Osimhen.
Alfredo Pedullà claims the Manchester United man is the ‘priority’ target for Conte. Therefore, Napoli will have a ‘new meeting in the next few hours’ with McTominay’s agent, who has currently put other options on hold.
It’s up to Napoli to make a convincing offer to Manchester United, to get this deal over the line.
