Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has been proposed to Roma as he gears up to leave Old Trafford this summer.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the Italian side are considering whether to reunite the Matic with Jose Mourinho.

We covered a report from Italy yesterday that contacts have started between Roma and Matic over a possible move this summer after he announced his intention to leave Manchester United earlier this week.

There are reportedly good feelings about a potential deal, and Calciomercato back that up somewhat today.

They say that Matic will ‘surely leave’ Matic this summer as he enters the final year of his deal, and that will be for a price ‘very close to zero’.

The 33-year-old believes he is at the last important contract stage of his career and could be open to reuniting with Mourinho, who he worked with at Chelsea and Manchester United.

He featured heavily under the Special One and had a good relationship with him, and so an agent very close to the player, who is dealing with his potential transfer, has ‘offered’ him to Roma.

His current salary of €7m is consider ‘a lot’ for them to match, but it could be helped by the Italian Growth Decree and thus mitigate that problem.

The Manchester United man ‘would love’ to work under Mourinho for a third time, but Roma need to think about things before proceeding, largely because of his age.
