Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has been accused of showing ‘contempt’ towards Barcelona with comments that ‘completely clash with reality’.
That’s at least according to Catalan newspaper Sport, who cover the player today with a healthy dose of saltiness after he didn’t end up at the Camp Nou this year.
The newspaper says that Amrabat has shown ‘contempt’ towards Barcelona with his latest comments on his move to Manchester United, which have ‘ignored’ the Catalans entirely.
They explain that Amrabat had ‘sounded strongly’ as a reinforcement for Barcelona since January, with several gestures and winks from the player making it clear he was keen on the move.
Sport claim he was even willing to give up his entire salary to be loaned to Barcelona in January, but an agreement couldn’t be reached with Fiorentina and the move didn’t happen.
The door was opened again for the summer when Sergio Busquets departed, and he was high on the list but the financial problems at the Camp Nou made a deal impossible.
Amrabat seems to have ‘quickly forgotten his passion’ for Barcelona since then, though, with him claiming recently that the only place he wanted to go this summer was Manchester United.
That’s not gone down well with Sport, who say the comment ‘completely clashes with reality’.
According to them ‘football has no memory’ and they’re not impressed, even if it all does sound a little bitter.
