Amid all the exciting news that Manchester United have reportedly made an approach to find out more about a deal for Kylian Mbappé, there is still the question of a new midfielder to resolve.
The player who appears the likeliest to join the Red Devils at the moment continues to be Sofyan Amrabat, although no deal has been struck yet.
The latest on the situation seems to come from La Nazione, relayed by Fiorentina.it, who state Manchester United are making ‘concrete moves’ to sign the Morocco international.
The midfielder is expected to return to Florence today to team up with his Fiorentina teammates and chat with manager Vincenzo Italiano, who is said to want the player’s future resolved as soon as possible.
There was hope last week that a deal could be struck before the end of the weekend, but that clearly didn’t happen.
One of the reasons could be the ‘distance between the valuations’, with the Serie A side wanting €28-30m for their star, while Manchester United’s offer will ‘presumably’ be somewhere around €25m with bonuses included.
Therefore, a small increase of €3-5m would be needed to get a deal over the line, but the Old Trafford side are ‘the only club showing serious interest’ in Amrabat for now.
