Manchester United have identified Thomas Tuchel as a candidate to replace Erik ten Hag after this season.
That’s according to Kicker journalist Georg Holzner, and he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state the 50-year-old has ‘already been contacted’ by Manchester United.
In another post on X, he says Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘highly values’ the current Bayern Munich manager.
The journalist further adds Ratcliffe has asked Tuchel ‘about a commitment for the coming season’, if Ten Hag were to be relieved of his duties.
Tuchel is currently focusing only on the Bundesliga side, who will face Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
Bayern Munich have already announced the German will leave at the end of this season. Holzner says there’s no possibility for him to continue at the club and their leaders still believe they have made the right decision to let the former Chelsea boss leave.
On Sunday, Manchester United overcame Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final through a penalty shootout, they shouldn’t have needed that drama having gone 3-0 during normal time.
Irrespective of whether they win the cup competition, Ten Hag could be shown the exit door, following the Red Devils poor run [three points in four league games] after March’s international break. This has seen them slip to seventh in the table.
There’s also little evidence of any firm plan for improvement on the pitch.
#ManUnited
