On May 1st, we covered claims from Spain that Manchester City and Chelsea had become interested in Toni Quetglas, having watched the youngster play for Mallorca’s youth teams.
He’s originally from Barcelona’s La Masia system, but decided to move on to a new challenge. The 16 year old attacking midfielder was said to have caught the eye of scouts, and Ajax were keen on him as well.
Manchester United didn’t get a mention, and now AS change that.
The Spanish newspaper say Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s club and Ajax have both ‘made an offer’ for the player. That offer would be directly to the player, or at least his representatives, and it’s unlikely Mallorca could do an awful lot if he wants to leave.
AS say Quetglas is ‘very excited’ about the future and how his football career is growing, but they don’t make it clear if that’s related to these claimed offers or just generally.
Chelsea get a mention in the report, and their interest is ‘pending’, which would indicate they’ve not made an offer.
