Manchester United’s interest in Benfica midfielder João Neves gets a mention by a couple of Portuguese newspapers today.
With the youngster standing out for the Eagles this season, local outlets already talk about his potential exit from the club.
One of the reports comes from O Jogo, who claim that Neves is not leaving Benfica before the summer of 2025.
It’s said club president Rui Costa doesn’t even want to sit and talk about his departure before that, while the player is protected by a €120m release clause.
The English media wrote this week that Manchester United are keen on the player, and O Jogo says that was actually already known, highlighting that the competition is huge.
Since Neves himself isn’t looking for a transfer right now, Benfica can be more calm about the situation and plan to keep him for a while more.
Manchester United’s interest in the midfielder is also mentioned by A Bola, who say the Red Devils were already interested and made a move to show they’re keen on the signing.
Their story is about showing that the top clubs in Europe do not have U-20 defenders and midfielders settled in their teams, and that’s one of the reasons why Neves is so much wanted.
