Having played under the orders of Erik ten Hag at Ajax for two years, Lisandro Martínez is now wanted by the manager at Manchester United.
Earlier this week, journalist César Luis Merlo stated the centre-back has asked Ten Hag’s successor in Amsterdam and the Eredivisie winners’ board to sanction his sale this summer.
Merlo’s claim is echoed by De Telegraaf on Thursday, who then provide a little more information on this case.
According to the newspaper, the Argentina international has received ‘generous bids’ from both Manchester United and Arsenal. They state the Red Devils’ maximum offer is €45m, beating €40m from the Gunners.
The 24-year-old ‘insists’ the Dutch champions sanction his sale. He hopes Ajax will ‘ask a realistic amount’ [maximum of €50m] to let him make a move to the Premier League in the summer window, where Ten Hag’s side and Arsenal are keen to secure his services.
According to De Telegraaf, the South American has so far not received a response from the Amsterdam club.
With offers United having put the highest offer in, at a reasonable €45m, it remains to be seen when Ajax will respond to Martínez’s request to leave the club this summer.
