Portuguese newspaper A Bola today shares some discouraging news for Manchester United regarding their chase for Benfica youngster João Neves.
According to the outlet, the midfielder is ‘untouchable’ at the Eagles, as they believe he can be of great help in their quest for the league title.
That means Benfica don’t even want to listen to offers for him in January, despite the interest from Manchester United and others.
Besides the many reports from the European press regarding the Red Devils’ interest, A Bola explain that Erik ten Hag’s side have already made some ‘exploratory contacts’ to know the conditions of a transfer.
Benfica, however, are telling Manchester United and all others the same: they won’t negotiate in January, and the player is only leaving in case his €120m release clause is triggered.
A Bola acknowledges that Neves should get full offers at the end of the season, so even if Manchester United wait, they better get prepared to face some big competition for the youngster.
The story calls the youngster the ‘most emblematic figure’ that the Eagles have in their squad right now, even though he’s just 19.
