Loaned by Manchester United to Valencia this summer, Andreas Pereira isn’t exactly having a great start to the season in La Liga.
The midfielder started the first two league games he was available for the Spanish club, but was later dropped to the bench.
On Sunday, Pereira had another chance to start in the game against Athletic Bilbao, but failed to impress once again and was criticised by the local media.
Deporte Valenciano has a story saying Pereira was one of the summer additions who has shined least since joining the club, and is having trouble adapting to La Liga once again.
Especially against Athletic, the website claims the Manchester United player was ‘too individualistic’ and ‘easily stopped’ by the opponent’s defence.
They say the midfielder should leave the left wing more often and start making the right decisions, while his defending skills can’t be praised either.
Pereira only got a chance because Geoffrey Kondogbia was suspended, so Carlos Soler was moved to the middle and he got a start on the left.
But with his poor performance, Deporte Valenciano is sure that things will go back as normal in the next game, and Pereira should return to the bench until he has another chance to prove himself.
Valencia’s owner Peter Lim worked hard to secure the loan from Manchester United, and it’s a move Jose Mourinho was opposed to, therefore there’ll be a great will from the player and those in charge at the Spanish club to make Pereira a success.
