Manchester United loanee Joel Pereira has reportedly been dropped at Vitória de Setúbal.
Newspaper A Bola brings a story today saying that after losing his spot to goalkeeper Cristiano in the game against Marítimo last weekend, things should be kept that way from now on.
A Bola writes that Joel even had a good start to the season at Vitória, and held the starting spot for many fixtures. However, he’s shown some ‘irregularity’, which convinced the manager to make the change.
Pereira has played eight games for Vitória in Liga NOS this season, conceding nine goals and keeping two clean sheets.
The 22-year-old was loaned by Manchester United in the summer, and is supposed to stay in Portugal until the end of the season.
As José Mourinho wanted Pereira to be loaned out because the goalkeeper needed playing minutes, maybe the decision will convince Man United to have some new ideas for the player in January.
Mourinho is likely to be especially irritated because he picked Vitória personally, knowing the Setubal club well.
