Earlier this week, a rather surprising story appeared claiming that Manchester United were interested in Getafe’s Mauro Arambarri.

The midfielder was said to be seen as the ‘perfect option’ for what the Red Devils need going forward, especially because they consider him to be ‘cheap and good’.

The price of the Uruguayan was said to be around €30m, but AS in Spain believe he could be available for less.

The newspaper, via their website, claim ‘representatives of the Red Devils have already contacted the player’s environment to convey their interest first-hand’.

Arambarri is said to ‘fit what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is asking for’, as the Norwegian manager ‘already has reports on the footballer’.

His contract with Getafe is due to expire in 2023, with a €25m release clause attached to it, but the starting price ‘would be around €20m’ depending on how the market evolves.

It’s explained that Serie A side were after Arambarri before the pandemic, but ‘the crisis caused by Covid caused none of them to take the step to sign him’.

Now, instead, ‘it seems that Manchester United are willing to push hard for him’.
