Manchester United ‘have the lead’ in the race for AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi, who is being courted by several clubs in the Premier League.
That’s according to RMC Sport, who say while no concrete offer has been made yet the defender ‘will talk with the player very soon’ about a move.
They explain that the future of the French defender is set to be clarified soon with an increasing interest in him from the Premier League.
The Monegasque defender, whose current contract runs until 2025, is popular in England and, according to RMC’s information, several major clubs in the Premier League are ready to move for him.
One of those are Manchester United, who are ‘in the lead’ for his signature and have already made the player aware of the project they are offering.
There is a belief that everything around the defender should ‘now accelerate’ and while there is no agreement in place, there is a plan to increase efforts for the player.
That’s because Erik ten Hag ‘holds him in high esteem’ and is set to make contact with him the player to discuss a move to Old Trafford.
The Dutchman will want to move quickly after being overtaken by Bayern Munich in the race for Napoli’s Kim Min-jae, who had appeared set to join United before a late push by the German champions.
A repeat of that would not go down well and it appears both Manchester United and Ten Hag now plan to step things up to their alternative.
