Would Blaise Matuidi be a good addition to Manchester United’s squad and make it stronger? Almost certainly yes.
That’s been the case for a while now, every time the Premier League club are linked with the PSG midfielder. But any time those links rise to the surface, some Manchester United fans meet them with emotions ranging from ‘meh’ to feather-spitting fury.
It was similar when Manchester United were repeatedly linked with a move for Dani Alves, when the Brazilian right back was leaving Barcelona. The potential transfer wasn’t welcomed with universal glee, and Alves in the end signed for Juventus and showed he still had it.
French newspaper L’Equipe say Juventus could be set to swoop for another 30+ player, and, after nearly signing him last season, are returning for Matuidi. Juventus’ first proposal for a transfer is €15m, half what they were willing to pay last summer.
Matuidi is entering the final year of his contract, and just edged over the 30 mark in April, so Juventus believe they can pay less. The midfielder isn’t pushing to leave, he’s just had a dream home built in the Paris area, but L’Equipe believe a transfer isn’t ruled out.
Whilst Juventus have very much pushed themselves to the front of the queue, L’Equipe say Manchester United are keeping an eye on the situation.
