Way back in December 2016 it was reported in Germany that not only was Jurgen Klopp a big fan of Christian Pulisic, but Liverpool owners FSG were keen on the idea of signing him as well.
Pulisic is seen as a future superstar of US football, and FSG believed that would work commercially well for them. The marketing benefits that would come with Pulisic would be a big boost to FSG’s Liverpool plans, and all the pieces fit into place.
There was one problem, Klopp had agreed not to snatch any players from Borussia Dortmund, but even then it was stated BVB would would look kindly on a Liverpool sale if other clubs came in.
BVB’s biggest threat would be Bayern Munich, and this week’s SportBild says the German giants are keen, Manchester United are also brought into the picture as a club wanting to sign Pulisic.
Whilst Dortmund would be against a move to Bayern, and look at any other option favourably, they’re not going to be too concerned about selling Pulisic to Manchester United.
Jose Mourinho has been linked with interest in the player more than once, and if he’s planning some Old Trafford exits in the summer, Pulisic could be an option. The US marketing angle won’t be lost on Ed Woodward and the Glazers.
Pulisic is 19 years oif age and can play on either wing or through the middle.
