Manchester United are today again being linked to Benfica centre-back Antonio Silva.
The report comes from Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, who highlight that the defender may have played his final game at the Estádio da Luz last weekend.
Benfica are in need of sales in the summer window, and it’s said that Silva has been approached by several clubs.
Manchester United are one of the interested sides, along with the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain. They’ve all been ‘keeping an eye’ on the player, according to the newspaper.
Now what makes this operation quite difficult is that Benfica’s idea is to negotiate him for something close to his release clause, which stands at €100m.
Silva may have shown good potential for the Eagles lately, but with the unimpressive season the club just had, it doesn’t sound very likely that Manchester United or any other club will spend that amount on him.
That’s something to be seen, though, as we’re talking about a club who may be the best negotiators in world football.
