Manchester United are reportedly one of the European clubs keeping an eye on the South American youngster Stiven Plaza.

According to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, the Red Devils have been recently impressed with the 18 year old wonderkid, who currently plays for Ecuadorian side Independiente Del Valle.

Manchester United currently have scouts watching the U-20 Copa Libertadores, which is being hosted at the Estádio Centenario, in Montevideo, Uruguay.

With seven goals in three games, Plaza has been impressing those who are watching Independiente, with his physique being one of the attributes calling the scouts’ attention.

Globo Esporte reports that not many fans have been watching the tournament, and the stands are basically filled by scouts and other representatives having a look at the young talents.

Independiente Del Valle will now face River Plate from Uruguay for the semifinals next Wednesday. São Paulo and Nacional also fight for a spot in the tournament’s final.

It’s not unusual for Manchester United to be present at such an event, and the club have increased their South American scouting in recent years.
