The former Torino defender hasn’t featured for a single minute in the Premier League this season, and insistent reports in Italy suggest he could be on his way back to his homeland.

Serie A side Inter are believed to be interested in signing him in January, after they reportedly also tried to sign him during the summer transfer window.

According to Saturday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, Darmain is now ‘one step away’ from signing for Inter.

It’s reported Manchester United don’t intend to see his transfer value reduce further and therefore could offload him quickly.

The 26-year-old could leave Manchester United in January, and Gazzetta believe both Inter and Manchester United will try to strike a deal in the coming weeks.

Gazzetta say Darmian could leave on a loan with an option to buy or on a permanent deal, but that remains to be seen. It’s previously been suggested that Jose Mourinho’s good relationship with Inter, who he won the Champions League with, could well help in any potential deal.

The Italian newspaper say Inter have always been interested in Darmian, and are aware any loan may well be an expensive one.
