Borussia Dortmund will not allow Jadon Sancho to leave in January, despite the rumours about a move to Manchester United refusing to go away.

As you’ll be more than aware by now, Sancho was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout the summer transfer window, with it believed he was their number one target.

A move never happened, though, with Manchester United failing to match Borussia Dortmund’s asking price and a deal never seemingly being close.

That, though, has not ended the rumours about a move, with some suggesting they could revive their interest in January.

That would make little sense given they signed both Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo to occupy the right-wing position, and now BILD have poured even more cold water on the suggestion.

They say that the rumours are ‘without any concrete background’ because BVB won’t let Sancho leave in January.

It’s explained that while there are several reasons Dortmund may need to sell, chief among them a ‘Corona hole’ in their finances, with them losing €45m last year and an expected €75m this year, they won’t let him go midway through the campaign.

That stance will remain even if Manchester United were to offer €120m and there is a specific reason for that.

They believe that Sancho is ‘on the way’ to becoming a world star, and thus his market value is only going to keep increasing.

Thus, for them, it would unwise to sanction a deal midway through the season when he could be worth much more come next summer.

So, that should put an end to any suggestions of something happening in January, although we’re sure that won’t stop the English press and every Twitter ITK from trying regardless.
