Jornal de Notícias today shows up with an ‘exclusive’ story on Manchester United’s interest in Porto striker Mehdi Taremi.
Even though they didn’t have the article in their newspaper, their website now shows up claiming the Red Devils want the centre-forward signed this summer.
It’s claimed that Manchester United have been following the player for some time, as Erik ten Hag is an admirer of his qualities.
Even though it isn’t said how much the Red Devils are willing to pay for Taremi, it’s claimed that Porto will only let him go if for over €20m.
The striker was the league’s top scorer last season, with 22 goals. In total, he had 31 goals and 14 assists in 51 matches for Porto in 2022/23.
That would normally be enough for Portuguese clubs to demand over €75m for the player, but there are two factors that bring his price down. One is that he’s turning 31 next month, and then that his contract with the Porto expires next year.
Manchester United’s interest in him had been revealed by the Iranian media earlier this month, and now gets confirmed in Portugal.
