Monday’s edition of De Telegraaf reported PSG, Manchester United and Tottenham are all ‘concrete’ in their chase for Andre Onana.

All three clubs have contacted his agent Albert Botines, to let him know of their transfer interest.

For Manchester United especially, it didn’t make sense. Despite that, the claim is made again today, with the clubs mentioned credited with ‘serious interest’ in the goalkeeper.

David de Gea recently signed a new lengthy contract and an exit doesn’t appear as possible as it once did.

Ajax are said to want €40-50m for their 23 year old, so it’s unlike he’ll be moving anywhere as a second choice option.

Even if a set of circumstances open up which make a De Gea exit possible, Manchester United would surely consider the prospect of giving Dean Henderson the chance to be their next long term goalkeeper.

Having the current Sheffield United loanee between the sticks next season wouldn’t be such a gamble when it’s considered Sergio Romero is there as very high quality back-up.

Indeed, the Argentine may well think it was his chance to have a shot at being No.1.

Discarding the Henderson option and paying €40-50m for someone else, who didn’t have Premier League experience, wouldn’t make a great deal of sense.

Stranger things have happened in the crazy world of football transfers, but in this instance it may well be a case of Manchester United’s name being used to hype Onana’s value.
