Last week, journalist Paolo Paganini stated Adrien Rabiot could be inclined to make a switch to Manchester United if Juventus were to part ways with Massimiliano Allegri after this season.
The France international’s deal lasts until June and he subsequently has an uncertain future at the Serie A side.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who discuss Manchester United’s interest and the latest on his contract situation.
The midfielder’s renewal with the Old Lady has been frozen and there seem to be valid reasons for that.
Rabiot’s performances are ‘far from’ that of last season, and he even struggled in Juve’s 2-2 draw against Cagliari. The report adds he’s ‘regressed’ physically and temperamentally in recent games.
Juve’s efforts to negotiate a deal with the 29-year-old’s mother, Veronique, who is also his agent, haven’t been successful. Her client wants assurances, to understand their project and also wait to see the developments that are expected to take place at the club.
In short, Rabiot isn’t in a hurry and to sign an extension, he needs a long-term contract with a significant increase to the €7m per year he’s receiving now.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have stepped in and carried out ‘first polls’ to sign him on a free transfer. Calciomercato add he finds a move to the Premier League to be attractive.
This, coupled with his renewal being frozen, would give the Red Devils an advantage to try and secure his services in the next window.
