Manchester United could need new centre-backs soon.

Lisandro Martinez is set to miss the rest of the season and could also be out for longer than that. Victor Lindelof’s contract at the club is set to run out in the summer, with a renewal looking unlikely.

The player who could plug holes in the backline may be RB Leipzig’s Castello Lukeba.

SportBild have reported on the Frenchman’s situation today, revealing that the defender’s entourage is already preparing for a ‘mega’ move in the summer transfer window.

There is an awareness of the fact that Lukeba’s current deal has a release clause worth €90m, that feels over the top even if the article suggests otherwise.

Real Madrid were interested in him last summer yet the player was clear that it was not going to be the right decision. This summer, things will change and Lukeba will be more interested in an exit from the Bundesliga side.

Manchester United have ‘expressed’ their interest in the 22-year-old and so have Liverpool and Chelsea. The expectation is that the race is going to be hot and the Red Devils will have to be competitive.

SportBild are hyping a number of potential Bundesliga to Premier League transfers this week, and a lot of the claims feel like they’re presented as more serious than perhaps they are.
