In all honesty, it feels like A Bola have a Bruno Fernandes article today because they think they should.
They don’t have any big updates, there’s not the big optimism Manchester United supporters are looking for, and if anything things take a step back.
The past few days have seen claims coming from Italy and Spain about a deal being on the verge of happening. There’s even been strange reports, dating back to last Thursday, about Bruno travelling to England for a medical… Sporting made clear on Tuesday that none of that was true.
A Bola explain the midfielder wants a move to the Premier League and has snubbed a move to Italy and the idea of even listening to PSG. In England, ‘Manchester United are on the horizon’, but, and this is the killer, the Portuguese newspaper explain there may not even be an official offer made before Sporting face Benfica on Sunday.
That sounds pessimistic, however, perhaps the step of an ‘official’ offer is somewhat overrated, for reasons we’ve explained before. Should Sporting reject one (of €35m or more) then they have to pay Bruno €5m compensation.
There’s no point in making that official offer unless there’s an agreed or United want war.
Manchester United’s failure to get Harry Maguire over the line is thought to have stalled things, and the Paulo Dybala situation is providing a distraction.
If you were looking for positive Bruno Fernandes news on Wednesday, A Bola aren’t providing it.
Should a move not happen, then Sporting will offer their captain a renewal at around €5m a year.
