Manchester United have held talks with Jonathan Tah’s agents about a move in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that Manchester United have now entered the race for the centre-back, who is set to be available on a free transfer.

Tah’s current deal with Bayer Leverkusen expires in the summer and all indications are that he will be leaving the German side at that point.

Several of the biggest clubs in Europe have been credited with an interest in him and it was expected that he would join Barcelona, but he is yet to sign a deal with Hansi Flick’s side.

Plettenberg reports the same, stating that while Barcelona definitely want the 29-year-old, they still haven’t signed a deal with him.

That’s led Manchester United to enter the race and talks with him management have taken place about a move to Old Trafford. How successful they went for Ruben Amorim’s side isn’t mentioned.

Plettenberg, though, does report that Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also in the mix, on the proviso that Barcelona don’t finalise a move for him.

Now, we would point that Tah’s agents have been touting him around Europe for months and this very much feels like them using the German media to add another name to the list, perhaps to push Barcelona along.

That’s a tactic we’ve seen plenty of times, particularly in Germany with Manchester United, so we’ll wait for more before getting excited on this one.
